Osaka 5 Dispatched - Kawasaki-Juko, Kobe

(Formally Kawasaki Branch Camp then Osaka 5B - Kawasaki)

Kobe

Ship building and material movement. The POWS worked building ships and transporting materials.

First group of Australian and British, arrived from Singapore on the Kamakura Maru. Many others transferred from other camps. 600 POWS were at the camp at one time.

1942 8th December camp established as Kawasaki Branch Camp

1943 18th February camp renamed 5-B Kawasaki

1943 15th October camp renamed 5-D Kawasaki

1945 11th May camp closed, PoWs transferred to Fukuoka area POW camp (Camp 22 Honami) and to a Hiroshima POW Camp.
