Saved by a Pocket Book
by Mike Dack
A great-granddaughter of Arthur Burd inherited photos which her mother had cherished. These included a number in a pocket book, which saved the life of Arthur when he was shot in France!
The first photo/postcard with an image has an inscription on the back written long ago, explaining that these saved his life when he was shot.
As the event was in 1917 and his son Harold, my father was born 1920 - I too owe my existence to that pocket book and its contents!
What a Christmas discovery I have made, thanks to your adding the info to your great website.
