1941/12/25 - Captured Hong Kong

As an Indian officer from a distinguished Hyderabad family Acting Captain M A Ansari was the object of Japanese attempts to use him to subvert the loyalty of other Indian troops.

His refusal to cooperate in 1942 led to be held in Stanley Jail, which was situated in the south of Hong Kong Island.

When transferred to the Ma Tau Chung Camp, Captain Ansari helped establish a system for aiding escapees.

In April 1943 George Kotwall, ex-3 Coy, HKVDC, tried to organize the escape of Captain Ansari from Ma Tau Chung Camp, but he was betrayed and sent with Captain Ansari to Stanley Jail, where they were starved and tortured.

Captain Anari was sentenced to death with George Kotwall and over thirty other British, Chinese and Indian prisoners. They were beheaded on the 29th October 1943.
