Worked on the Thailand-Burma Railway and then transported, via Singapore, on the Miyo Maru with which departed for Manila/Takao, Formosa (Taiwan) 3rd June 1944.
Transferred, with 771 other prisoners from Takao, Formosa, to the Tamahoko Maru on the 18th June 1944. The ship was torpedoed by the USS Tang on the 24th June 1944 off Goto Nagasaki Japan.
William died with 559 other prisoners when the ship sunk.
