In December 1941, Japan launched their invasion of Hong Kong. Stanley Village was one of the last battlefields of the defence of the city where ‘D’ Company, Royal Rifles of Canada and a group of Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps were stationed.
Hong Kong surrendered on Christmas Day 1941.
